I've always felt it a strange thing, to not be able to whistle. You are possibly one of the few people I know who also can't (or maybe, that it has come up in conversation with).
The idea of working with the wind is beautiful. It has the absence/presence thing that keeps popping up.
It is weird not being able to whistle - I feel like if it ever comes up with people they are quite dismayed that I can't do it. Inevitably they seem to imply that I just haven't tried hard enough, or that no-one has ever taught me right - then there's usually an attempted lesson, and I kind of give up. I think as a kid I always just assumed that when I grew up I'd be able to whistle, that it was a thing you could do as an adult, but it never happened!
Hey Claire....not very well at all.
ReplyDeleteAs a child I used to say I whistled like the wind (in that it isn't a high pitched noise but just the sound of air blowing through a space).
Deleteah, perfect response. I've been thinking about the wind, the air, and the fact that I can't whistle. As some kind of artwork...
